Horrible. We are in the process of pursuing the Missouri lemon law. The sensor dry does not work. That is the main feature we were looking for. Nothing will dry unless it has been on timed dry for an hour. This is not good for clothes nor the cost to run. Repairmen told us that the sensor dry is not to dry. You run it and when it shuts off you hang the clothes to dry. Now we were told that sensor dry only works on the high heat setting...towels. One of the ladies I talked to at Speed Queen told me she uses sensor dry all the time....so why doesn't mine work? I WOULD NOT recommend this dryer to anyone. We thought by paying more and buying a reputable brand we would be happy. NO WAY!!!

I really do love this dryer. The best feature is the pet hair remover which I use almost daily. It takes the pet hair off of clothes and bedding very well without heating. This is an excellent machine and it dries everything evenly and efficiently. When my washer dies, I will definitely be purchasing a Speed Queen.

It's very touchy on drying. there is no in between either the clothes stay damp or it heats up so high everything shrinks. The pet hair feature is for dirty clothes before you wash them, so I don't even use that as I don't put dirty items in a dryer that's intended for clean clothes. Wish I'd asked a few more questions and then I wouldn't have bought this unit there's nothing super special about it, and it's got less drying options. The inside drum isn't holding up that great, again assuming inferior metals are used to cut corners.

The dryer sounds like a freight train .. I called the 800 number for Speed Queen and they told me that that was common with that model. My 15 year old dryer never sounded like that. I should have kept my old one!!

It is a learning curve after having the other big brands out there. It does not seem like the dryness sensor works as well as other brands do. when using auto the clothes are still damp. But when using the time dry it works great

This washing machine replaces a washing machine that was 20 years and this Speed Queen Front loader is a dream to operate.
The only problem is I use TIDE HE which is for front loader machines and i use the least amount, i mean almost nothing, of Tide HE and it SUDS UP so bad i have to do extra rinses so is it the Tide soap or is it the machine?

Drying sounds like I'm tumbling a dead horse. Then thumping sound disappears after 2-3 minutes. 2 service calls and replaced rollers and drum but sound persists. Don't have time to fix. Try again in a couple months.

Overall, This is a great machine! We didn't want any of the overdone tech "features" that seem to dominate the current market. We just needed a no-frills robust machine that's built to last.
Hopefully this dryer gives us many years of reliable service
We do like the lint filter being in front better than on top as it seems to make much less mess when cleaning it out vs. machines with the top load screen filters.
As with anything there is always room to improve:
-It would be nice if it had front facing feet adjustments that would allow the machine to be leveled out by turning adjustment screws at the front of the machine.
-The flange that the exhaust hose mounts to is a little too flimsy which makes it a little hard to get the hose clamp on the exhaust hose to fully tighten. If it were made from a thicker gauge metal that would be nice.
-While switching the door to swing the opposite way I noticed that the fasteners used on the door liner and hinge are of very low-quality soft zinc. While they do get the job done, It would have been nice to see higher quality fasteners used . It would better align with the high quality made in the USA theme that Speed Queen is known for.
Overall keep up the good work and thanks for providing a simple and better quality machine

I am convinced that this machine will be very durable and reliable for a very long time. I do think some improvements could be made to the settings and the drying sensors. When I ask this machine to use the sensor for drying, my load is often not quite fully dry. I have used machines that have simpler controls that worked better. The pet hair remover is a nice feature, although it works better on some garments than others. Overall this is a good purchase, but I miss some of the control features of my older, simpler machine.

This is a workhorse. Disappointed that the analog dials are just switches and sensors for a microprocessor. I might as well gotten the digital display version. Also, there's a lack of settings. No water level setting is frustrating.

I love most of the features of my new Speed Queen. It is very efficient and you can change the temperature settings easily. It's very quiet and easy to use. What I don't like is the low tone that you can't change when the clothes are done. I rarely hear it go off when the clothes are finished drying. And the other thing I don't like is the handle to open it. It is not ergonomically easy to use. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with the dryer.

12 years ago I purchased a Speed Queen commercial washer and dryer pair. Both have been excellent. I just purchased another pair and I am disappointed that government regulation for energy efficiency has decreased the quality of this dryer. The operating control design for this dryer is horrific. The time dry cycle has been changed from the user setting the desired time with the selector knob to now only having two choices, 30 or 60 minutes. With all the claims of energy efficiency, this is pathetic. My clothes routinely take 40 minutes to dry, so I either have to choose 60 minutes, or run two cycles of 30 minutes. How is this saving energy? Why would anyone think only two choices (30 or 60 minutes) is a good design for a dryer? Most other brands have digital timers that can be set to the minute. Including a Pet Plus option is just a sad indicator on the culture of our society if we have reached the point of designing dryers based on animals. The Auto-Dryness selector is very questionable. Why would anyone want to use the Near Dry selection which intentionally leaves the clothes wet? The assumption that it's for immediately needing to iron damp clothes seems foolish. Rarely will people iron clothes as soon as the dryer stops. And how is this energy efficient if you should dry the clothes that need ironing separately from clothes that don't? That requires a separate drying cycle which increases energy usage, or removing the items that need ironing and then running another cycle to finish drying the clothes that don't need ironing. The user manual indicates there is no cycle available that will dry (not intentionally leave damp) a large load, which should be a key feature of this commercial dryer. Dry and Extended Tumble cycles are only for "very small loads" according to the manual. Drying lots of very small loads uses more energy, not less. The concern for using more energy than necessary results in the dryer being poorly designed and not performing it's primary function of drying clothes. It appears the remedy is to separate clothes into smaller loads that have similar drying times. But this will use more energy with more loads. How is that idea saving energy? Consumers want a dryer that will dry their clothes. If they are so concerned about saving energy, they will wear their clothes wet. 12 years ago the Speed Queen dryer was focused on drying clothes with an adjustable timer and performing it's intended function. Now the DC5 is focused on saving energy by leaving clothes wet which does not achieve it's primary function and makes choosing another brand more desirable.

Once the dryer was delivered and hooked up, the delivery guys turned it on and it was making a clunking sound as the drum rotated. I knew something was not right, and they called a repair guy to come look at it. The technician took the machine apart and diagnosed the problem as a flat spot on the rollers. He said to use the machine for a week to see if the noise goes away. It did not, so they ordered new rollers. Took weeks to get the parts and swap out. Still making noise which tells me it's a different problem. Now I have to contact Speed Queen to get this issue resolved. I spent way too much money for a quality machine, not something that doesn't run properly. I hope customer service will make sure I get a machine that runs properly.

We bought this dryer along with the accompanying washer because of their reputation of being a durable, high quality machine. This dryer has quality easy to use features. The bright drum light is a real plus. The lint filter is very easy to clean. It does an excellent job of drying in a short period of
time. We like the flat tops which allows us to set items on top of them, unlike most washers and dryers.

These machines are absolutely incredible.
Last year, we replaced our 15-year-old washer and dryer. The washer we had was a plate-style design, and from day one it had constant load-balancing issues because of that ridiculous setup.
In August 2025, we "upgraded" to a different brand, and honestly, those were the worst machines I've ever used. I'm a machinist and automotive restoration technician, so I get dirty. Nothing crazy, but the knees of my jeans are usually pretty grimy by the end of the day. That washer couldn't even get the knees of my jeans clean. Clothes would come out still smelling like dirty laundry after 3–4 hour cycles. It was pathetic to even call it a washing machine.
So we bought Speed Queens.
I am seriously glad we did. I can put in a load of jeans and be wearing them washed and dried a little over an hour later. My wife runs a vintage clothing business and also does cat rescue, so we go through a lot of laundry. After 45 days, we're still catching up from the backlog caused by the previous machines. With the old set, we were lucky to get one or two loads done in a day. Now we can knock out four or five easily.
What a concept, right? A washer and dryer that actually work. Amazing.
I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with my wife about modern appliances that don't do the one job they're supposed to do. When your life involves dirty work, vintage clothing, and cat rescue, it helps to have machines that are actually built for it.
If I ever have to buy another washer and dryer set, which seems very unlikely at this point, they will absolutely be Speed Queens.

I purchased the DC5 Sanitizing Electric dryer with pet plus. I received it March 21st 2026. One week later after using the dryer a few times my husband and I heard an awful noise coming from laundry room. We were aghast it sounded just like the 16 year old Maytag we had just replaced this with!! I called Speedqueen immediately and asked for service. I waited on hold forever and then when I got a representative they kept telling me if it is not a manufacturers defect you will have to pay for the repair. One week owning this machine I stated it is a manufacturers defect. They set me up with a repair place who wanted upfront 153.00. I said absolutely not and again called into Speedqueen again long hold time. I explained to the representative the problem who then stated it had to be a manufacturers defect. I stated this dryer is a week old, used maybe 3 times it is a manufacturers defect. I then stated I paid over 1600 dollars for this machine and will not pay another cent to have someone come out. The representative agreed and called the repair place who then came out to my house. The technician who came out only spoke Russian! We used Google Translate suffice it to say it was difficult. He took the whole dryer apart I was dismayed. He said through google translate the belt was misaligned. What a terrible experience this has been and the dryer. I believe is faulty it takes a long time to dry items and has all ready been repaired after one week of ownership. I really believed Speedqueen was better. Speedqueen most likely won't publish this honest review.

Very first time I used my new dryer I was totally impressed at how QUIET it was. The next day I used it and when I started it, I heard all of this rumbling ~ womp, womp, womb ~ and I could not find a reason upon checking to make sure the dryer was not up against anything to cause this noise. I asked my dealer about it and it was suggested I call Speed Queen to get service. Well, Speed Queen is quite busy and it takes hours upon hours to get to speak to someone or even get a call back. I gave up a couple of times and eventually I did get to speak to someone. They contacted someone in Lufkin, Texas to call me but I already know this serviceman does not come down to my area in Texas any longer. But, I waited for him to call anyway. Just as I expected, he was still not coming down here. I called Speed Queen back and the only suggestion was for me to go on their website and search for a serviceman. I was stunned, I thought my Speed Queen people would have a list of people who can service their products in my area. So, I am still listening to the womp, womp, womp ~ which does go away after a bit and I do not hear the machine after the womp, womp, womp seems to work itself out. I have not gone through the list of service people and called anyone. I do like my dryer except for the fact that it only has two TIMED settings ~ 30 minutes or 60 minutes. I like to dry some things just about 15 minutes and take the things out and hang them up to dry. I suppose I could set the timer on my phone to remind me to go back and get the things out ~ there IS the Pet Hair Setting that runs for 10 minutes, but it has no heat. I like to clean below the lint screen but boy is that a big pain. You have to have a screw driver to remove the piece that holds the lint screen and then you need to have a cannister vacuum and a long, flexible flat crevice tool to get beyond the lint screen area. I have NO idea how dog hair gets beyond that lint screen which is also hard to clean out. I cannot do it with my fingers as my old fingers do not bend like they used to. I have to use my Dust Buster to try & get lint out of the screen pocket. Ok ~ I guess that's about it.

The dryer had an issue where it quit heating. The process to schedule a rep a ir was easy but you have to have your info such as exact model and serial number handy. SQ utilizes a very competent repair firm in my area. Professionally diagnosed and fixed within short time, minor inconvenience.

Bought as a matched set because our old washer needed to be replaced.
Very pleased with washer but dryer has a few issues we don't like.
Load finished alarm is too soft and can't adjust.
Can only pick 60 or 30 minute cycles. No in between times. Sensor cycle leaves permanent press clothes still wet. So you have to use the cotton cycle.

The DC5004WG is a quality dryer. Love the solid feel, no movement or rocking. Great drying time. Only issue, I haven't received a connection hose for the steam boost. Installer never returned to install.
