We™€™ve owned this model for 2 1/2 years. From day one the microwave has made a noise and a few weeks ago it quit working. It has power and turns but it doesn™€™t heat food. The convection part still works. I called several technicians and explained what was going on. One said they don™€™t make the part I need anymore and the others didn™€™t want to work on it because of the difficulty and was told it would be very expensive to fix. Back to a countertop unit.

Combination Microwave and Wall Oven

Delighted with my new wall microwave and oven. My old one was from 2007 so it was short on features important to me. I now have convection capability, not only in the large oven AND also in the microwave unit. That is awesome. It's great having the dual microwave AND oven in the top unit so I can use it when I don't need all the space in the larger bottom oven. Happy with the purchase! Although I don't use some of the other features it's wonderful having them "in case."

Oven was not calibrated by installers.

Oven was not calibrated by installers. Runs 100 degrees under set temp. (This was why we replaced the old oven.) Manual offers no way for me to calibrate it myself. This may be the last GE appliance I buy.

Looks good. Works fine. A couple of nits. The reliance on using the knob for most functions is a bit annoying. Not sure what would be better but not that enamored of the knob. Also, the alert tone, e.g. when the timer goes off, is annoying. A big annoyance was having to wait almost 6 months for delivery. Probably due to COVID.

The upgraded features from my previous GE Profile "30" are highly reflective heat walls, oversized glass rotating tray, 2nd level mobile rack. All the controls are at eye level microwave on the left, baking oven on the right. Hi Tech etched labelling for easy reading and recognition are key features. The microwave has convection bake features similar to the baking oven. In the baking oven there are three removable racks. The most used rack in the center is a smooth roll out rack. Oven lighting for both ovens reminds me of a 5 star hotel bathroom lighting it is so efficient.

Pros and Cons

I've only had this two days but.... Pros so far - was available in black and fit in the original hole. Cons so far - Seems like going backwards with the knob - Cannot put in a time for the microwave - Have to use 15 second intervals even though I wanted to do 25 seconds. No fast buttons up to 6 minutes like old one. Not happy with the way the racks are put in the oven. Looks like it will be hard to wipe down oven after self-cleaning. The timer is too quiet. Would only recommend if you had a 30" GE Profile before because of hole size. Miss my old unit already! Would still be using it after 12 years if I could have found a broiler element for it.

Problems at time of installation with the oven door closing - would not close. Door finally closed after manually manipulating the mechanical latch, but still will not close without problems after 3 or 4 door openings and closing. Door later locked into closed position and after much manipulation, finally got the door latch to release. Appears to be a purely mechanical problem and not electronics. Also has a blemish in the finish on the front of the oven. Waiting for a service call.

So far I've used the microwave a lot as well as the convection and it cooks well and evenly. Took a little getting used to the controls since I've always had a microwave with just basic functions and minutes settings. The oven seems to work well but I need to try a turkey soon to get the full features including the probe. Matches the kitchen and looks great. I think this will be a good investment

Wall unit not user friendly

This oven/microwave wall unit is not user friendly. It is way too complicated to operate. The microwave door opens down rather than to the side making it difficult to place items in and out safely. The booklet that comes with the oven does not provide enough information about how to operate the convection microwave.

Cooks Great, User Interface Is a Zero

This oven/microwave combination replaced a 36 year old Whirlpool combo. Both oven and microwave cook well. My rating of 2 is for the unintelligible user interface. In the year 2020, customers should expect an ease of controlling an appliance that exceeds designs from 36 years prior. Not so with GE's PT7800 series. The control panel's touchpad has lettering that is unreadable without s bright, overhaed light or a flashlight. Alas, there is NO backlighting, thus my honestly awarded overall rating of a 2. GE, next time, go with the highest design bidder and include a backlighting capabilty.

Replacement for defective oven

Replacement for defective microwave / oven combo. Paint was peeling on inside of microwave. This is what fit cabinet space. Do not like how microwave oven door opens down. Hard to use, need step stool to clean oven. Convection oven does not bake as well as old oven.

We had home warranty that choose this replacement for us. We had a Kitchen Aide before. The new GE combo is serving us well. Easy to operate and I like the interior of both oven and microwave. But I don't find the outside appearance to my liking. It has a cheap look to it, even thou it's not. Kitchen Aide looked more high end to me.

Great replacement for old wall oven

So far this is an excellent replacement for our old GE Profile combo wall oven. New style control panel is taking a little getting use to but oven far exceeds the one it replaced. The only complaing so far is the buzzer is quiet and only adjustment is on or mute.

My previous combo unit was a GE and it lasted 18 years (got in Jan 2002). So naturally I looked up GE again. Very happy so far. Got it installed about the end of April and I bake ALOT, so oven is getting a real work out. And I'm learning to cook with a convection oven. Easy to learn the new selections on micro wave and oven. Fit in the currect wall space just as the specifications said. Old out and new unit in within 30 minutes. Very happy with purchase.

Purchased new in 6/2015 for remodeling of kitchen. Recently in 2019, microwave door has failed 3x within 2-4 month period of time. Replaced door clips and door fuses 2x by reputable appliance service tech in area. Microwave worked properly but then had same issue within 2 weeks and then month later. Recommended replace door and did not send door removal tool which is necessary to remove door. Tool has been back ordered since Nov. 2019 and today is Jan 21, 2020. Door removal tool is still in back order and will not be available until March 13, 2020. Offered a discount to purchase new appliance. Units should have a life use of at least 10 years. Instead of discount,GE should cover cost to replace for new unit because this unit is defective by design and GE is aware of defective unit.

Almost Excellent!

After only 10 days, we are very happy with this oven combination. Still haven't tried all of the features but was pleased with the convection oven when roasting a turkey breast and later 2 dozen cookies. Nothing was burned or left under cooked. The only thing that isn't as good as our previous double wall oven is the beeper to signal when preheating has reached the set temperature. The sound level is so LOW that we have to stand right next to the oven in order to hear the beeping signal. Why it only has 2 levels- Normal and Mute - are questionable. That Normal level is very difficult to hear and we have good hearing. I noticed that on other GE ovens the beeper has 3 levels- low, medium, high. Why doesn't this model have that, too?
