This dryer has now decided to eat my clothing when I say eat it, it gets stuck up wher the light is and puts holes in the clothing with a dark almost burt spot. It also makes a bird chirping noise. This dry is not very old so you can imagine the disappointment I have with GE

I'm so done with GE, I won't even fly on a jet with a GE engine anymore (which most have).
I am a disabled veteran and I'm retired on a fixed income. I bought a GE Gas dryer vented, 7.2 cu in, model gtd42gasjww, in November 2023 at Home depot. Right at the two year mark, it stopped drying although it would still be spinning. My wife and I called GE's 1-800 number and had to pay a $129 service charge just for a GE Certified technician to say that the switch that controls the ignitor failed and the repair would cost over $500. GE also said that since I didn't get the extended warranty, there's no recourse.
They spend more time getting you to buy the extended warranty than their dryers actually work.
Now I have to go buy a different company's dryer although I thought I made an investment. BUYER BEWARE...DO NOT BUY GE PRODUCTS!!!

Terrific dryer at a reasonable price! The dryer performance is exceptional and has a good amount of capacity. I love the extended tumble feature when I can not unload the dryer right away. The option to adjust the sound on the dryer buzzer is terrific so I can turn it up during the day when I'm doing housework or I can turn it off when we go to bed. The lint trap sometimes needs to be cleared out with a vacuum hose as the lint seems to fall off the screen and back into the dryer. When you have trouble putting the trap back in place, there may be lint that has fallen off the screen and down in the venting system.

Horrible. Do not buy. Motor shot after 2.5 years of light use. Costco wont take return. Ge wont answer a phone call. The repair costs as much as buying a new dryer with a more better brand. I have never regretted a purchase more.

This has dryer drys horrible! Takes forever to dry, but I could deal with that. Since I™™ve had this dryer ( April of 2020) it has ruined so many articles of clothing. The area between the drum and the frame( I guess) gets a hold of clothes and destroys them. I have several pictures to show so. I had service out here for the washer in 2023 ( GE service tech) and just asked about the dryer and why it did that. His response was ™ Don™™t even bother, they have no clue why this is happening ™!! Now June of 2025, the dryer is garbage. From chewing all the clothes, the drum has come apart from the whole machine. Ridiculous. I™™ve always bought GE, but never again.

Poor job with dog hair. The dryer does not do very good job at collecting dog hair in the lint trap even if the trap is empty. It only collects about half and the other half collects around the top of the trap so when you open the dryer door it ends up falling on the floor ð¤¨.

I purchased the set. I have had issues with the dryer . Gas smell and have to dry clothes up to 3 cycles . Know the power button does not work. I only use the dryer once a week. Barely 6 years old. My old dryer lasted 20 . YEARS. Now I gotta either get a new one or pay out the roof for repairs. From money I don't have.

Do not buy this. I bought the matching set and I paid 1,500 two years ago. Washer barely fills with water. Dryer barely dries. I have to dry my clothes twice as long as my old dryer and the clothes do not spin out the water well. Have already had repair out to fix dryer and now a new issue. My dryer is making a noise while drying. Top of dryer rusting in spots from soap getting on it. I am now going to buy a new washer and dryer set.

The power button broke after a few months and less than 2 years after purchasing the dryer is malfunctioning and loud like a jet engine. The plastic is still on the machine. I™™m a family of 3 so this barely even gets used more than once a week.

The dryer was brand new when i bought my house. Stopped working had to have a certified technician come and change the thermal fuse. Worked for a year and back to the same problem . It works but won™™t dry or gives any heat .

Only purchase if you™™re ok with having to either hang dry all items with a draw string, or don™™t mind your draw string getting caught in the drum and getting grease all over your drawstrings and then coming out ruined. Without fail, if I put shorts or anything of the such with drawstrings in my dryer, they come out ruined.

This dryer is awful! It takes at least 3 cycles for a load to dry and the lint doesn't collect in the lint trap so we constantly have to be cleaning below it.

Barely had it 8months. Stopped working. Filed with warranty. They sent certified repair service. The service was great. But they informed me we were lucky our house didn™™t burn down. Deemed it unfix able. Haven™™t heard anything from ge. Had to buy a new dryer. Still have the old one sitting here. I would like my money back. And I don™™t want anything to do with ge dryers.

Does a good job. Big capacity. Takes longer to dry but all clothes are fully dry. Wished at cycle end it would periodically come on and off for a bit to keep things from wrinkling until I get there. Previous 25 year old machine did that.

Takes too long to dry clothes. It takes over 1 hour to dry six towels. It seems like it doesnt get hot enough. Timer doesnt seem to work right. Takeing so long to dry clothes is wasteing our gas.

It takes hours to dry a load of clothes. I had a Whirlpool prior and I could dry a large load within 1 hour. I only replaced the Whirlpool so that my dryer matched my GE the washer machine.
