Untimely demise

The refrigerator is over 10 years old so this review probably doesn™€™t matter a lot. This was a workhorse for our family of four for 10 years. The stainless front was impossible to keep clean and scratched easily. The only disappointing thing is after 10 years a wire inside of the freezer wiring is intermittently causing the freezer temperature sensor to report as open, which means cooling stops and the food goes bad. It™€™s a bit surprising that GE would have made such a silly error in the product. The tech tells me it™€™s not repairable and such in the trash it goes

Absolutely terrible outer surface. Impossible to get clean without streaks and keep clean. I™€™ve tried literally every product out there for stainless steel. Magnets scratch the surface as well.

Freezer fan grinds against plastic vent cover. Loud. Egg bin cover easily pops out and cracks when it hits the floor. Refrigerator lights all stopped working at the same time years ago.

Freezer is a disaster. Ice maker completed rusted over and the shelves don't fit. The only solution for the shelves since none were available was to tape towels around the edges so they actually sit on the bump outs, otherwise the shelves constantly fall.

There is a poorly executed and designed electrical attachment on the left side of the defrost unit in the freezer. We have had it 7 years and it has failed the last 5 summers. Cheap shelf units/ clear dividers have cracked and needed replaced frequently. The ice and water are useful and have not had issues with these. The back wall, which, as above, I™€™ve had to access yearly is poorly and cheaply cheaply constructed, and obviously not made to be repaired or serviced.

Freezer and refrigerator sections both keep food frozen or cold. The butter bin allows cold butter to be spreadable. Two things I wish were better is 1- the stainless finish could be easier to maintain as smudge free, and the interior lights (especially in the freezer) could be longer-lasting and easier to change. Also, the icemaker is loud and needs to be monitored for shut off when full, or all the ice sticks together.

Owning this fridge has been a nightmare. Within a week the ice maker and water dispenser broke. GE sent a repair person who said the board was fried. 14 months later the exact same thing broke but is no longer covered under warranty and you have to pay to have someone repair it. Owning this fridge costs you money and headaches.

Poorly made with cheap materials. My refrigerator door handles crumbled to pieces and were barely EVER used, as I'm a Single Bed ridden disabled woman who eats like a bird. There is no way that would've happened with quality martial. My freezer light also went out within the first year!

Not a fan of this fridge. The freezer capacity is tiny, and a lot is taken away by the ice maker and water. Speaking of the water, the flow is extremely slow. I™€™ve replaced the filters several times and it is getting worse.

Broken beyond repair after 14 months

Defrost board stopped working after 14 months. To repair would be almost $1,100 so not worth repairing. Essentially, I've got an expensive boar anchor in my kitchen! My prior GE fridge lasted 24 years - 20X what this one lasted.

This has good features & runs quite. My only complaint is it does not keep clean on the outside. Every little thing that touches it leaves a smudge on it. I over ran filling a cup and the door now has a long streak down it. All of my GE appliances do the same thing. The handles are the worst. Had I known I would have gotten different appliances.

For years, I have always loved GE appliances. My parents had GE appliances when I was a child and they were always reliable and lasted for years. Unfortunately, the new generation of GE appliances is not nearly as reliable as they used to be. I bought this in September, 2021. It had a one year warranty and I had no problems for the first year. However, a few weeks ago (about 18 months after I bought it), a circuit board shorted out causing costly repairs that were not covered by the warranty. I was very disappointed with this product.

This GE refrigerator is terrible. It freezes all of the food in the Fridge portion. We have had the repairman here In numerous occasions and they have changed parts and then come back again to say that there is nothing wrong with it. We are fed up and are replacing all of our GE appliances as wr have a dishwasher that just went dead and can™€™t find any information online to help with what is the reason for this problem. We are just Fed up with GE appliance™€™s.

Falling Handle

In 2020 I purchased my first home! I trusted the builder to put in high quality appliances. I moved into the house in 2021. Since then the door handles have fallen off 4 times!!! It seems to be a common problem with these refrigerators; however, repairs are labeled as ™€œcosmetic ™€œ and NOT covered by warranty. Imagine that, using poor materials and making the consumer deal with the consequences. In the 1.5 years I™€™ve had this refrigerator, I™€™ve been highly disappointed! I would NOT recommend GE, I wouldn™€™t want anyone to deal with these issues.

Problems since purchase

Within the first year the fan was replaced twice but GE. We have had this refrigerator purchased new four years ago. Our milk has been going bad quickly for months and now figured out the refrigerator needed parts replaced as the temperature in the refrigerator portion is always at least 3 degrees higher than the setting. It is still not fixed and will cost more money. Not worth it.

We had problems from the start with defrost issues! After being delivered on 5-18 we service appointments on 6-18, 7-13, 8- 13, 9-23 now the technician says the refrigerator will have to be defrosted two days before his next appointment in October for the same problem!

Terrible refrigerator

I have had issues with this refrigerator from day 1,its only 1.5 yrs old and they have had to replace the main circuit board ,small circuit board on it and it's still not working right.ERR is the code I still get as well as loud popping noises like its gonna blow up.Of course it's out of warranty now but since I made an issue about how this has been an ongoing issue Consumer Relations allowed a one time service call including parts at N/C .Frankly I think I need a brand new refrigerator since it's barely 1.5 yrs old and I've had this many issues with it.No wonder they don't make this model anymore.Very unhappy...when I moved into my new home the refrigerator was already installed with yellow scratch marks on it that I allowed them to touch up with paint..wish I just opted for a new refrigerator then.

This refrigerator though has had no major issues, the ice dispenser takes a long time for the dispensing door to shut and causes ice to fall on the floor after one is done getting ice. Also the racks in the freezer side fall after a period of time of having the refrigerator and requires spacers to be inserted in order to hold the racks in place.
